1/11/2007 - DL083: Ai’s New Design for Diffuse Illumination

Advanced illumination’s newest diffuse light represents a departure in diffuse light design for the company.  With a slim – 21mm – profile, the DL083 is a Flat Diffuse Illuminator that uses surface mount LEDs to provide light suited for inspecting reflective objects.     

Using surface mount LEDs, the 200mm x 200mm surface projects a large, effective area of even illumination from a range of 100mm to 300mm; a significantly longer working distance than traditional diffuse lights (typically12mm – 50mm).   The DL083 has a 45mm aperture, and can be mounted by use of a convenient, integral M6 nut channel.  

The standard product, DL083-66024-001, is built with red LEDs and is configured to be powered with a user supplied 24v power supply.  The light can be ordered in red or infrared, and can be wired for use with Ai’s Pulsar 710 high current strobe controller. 

Diffuse lights are used for inspecting reflective objects or for inspections that require the use of flat illumination.  Traditional diffuse lights are constructed with a dome or other reflective housing; light is aimed up into the dome, which reflects it down onto the object being inspected and viewed through a hole cut in the top of the dome.
